With the end of the year already come and gone and the New Year already upon us, it’s time to reflect on everything. Well, I guess that would have been back in December. I however, was too busy the last couple months of the year to even remotely reflect on anything or think of new goals. I will, however, share this tidbit with you though – I don’t have resolutions, I set intentions. Yes, I have goals that I want to accomplish this year, but I don’t consider those resolutions. I have things that I want to be better at though. That’s what others would call resolutions.
If you happen to be still thinking about how you want 2017 to be then I want to share with you 3 of my favorite questions that can really help you shape 2017 in the year you really want it to be. Simpler, happier, and way nicer to yourself, more confident.
I hope you had a wonderful New Year! I spent mine with an amazing group of friends and my little family <3
First, I want you to ask yourself – “Is this useful? Will it help me?”
(Yes, I realize that was two questions but they are one in the same.)
Take it from me, it is so easy to spend a ton of times on things that don’t really matter. You can spend hours upon hours, days upon days and even weeks upon weeks on something that takes all your time and energy and it not really be worth your time. You can spend all that time mentioned before being royally pissed off at someone, replaying all your past mistakes and failures. Spending time being negative and constantly feeling more like a victim then someone who is successful in their own way.
I have started asking myself this question daily. Like…I’m not kidding! Daily! It’s what helps me stay on track and let things go that don’t really matter. It also helps to put my thoughts and feelings into check and to keep negative thoughts at bay.
By doing this, you will end up suffering less and dwelling more on negative things that just bring him down. You’ll waste less time going in circles wondering whether you did the right thing or not, and you’ll spend more time figuring out a more practical solution.
The second thing is asking myself what is a small step that I can make right now that can get the ball rolling in the right direction?
This question seriously brings me so much anxiety, even just thinking about it. But it is the one question you have to ask yourself when you are at the beginning of a new task you want to accomplish. It’s especially helpful with things that I have thrown on the back burner and just let go for a time.
It can help lighten a load. It helps to ease the anxiety with starting a new task as well. Though, I freak every time…
I’ve had friends tell me that it really helps them stay clear of procrastination and helps them not get side tracked with other things. Others have said it helps with their self-esteem.
And lastly, will this even matter in 5 years or even 5 weeks?
This will help you so much with letting go. Helping your simplify things in your life. It will help you find the happier perspective in things. Sometimes you just need a directive to keep your focus and to save your energy for the things that really matter. It will help you find a lightness in your life that your probably so desperately need and not even realize it. Mental baggage is a killer. Literally.
I hope this helps you to have a more fulfilling New Year and a happier, lighter 2017.
To many more!
